God’s Victory,
My Heart
Psalm 9:1-10
It is good when our "I wills" find their motive power in the "Thou hasts" of God.
By our belief God allows us into his realm which gives God a victory, my
heart.
This is a psalm of David it upon “Muth-labben.” This Jewish word means “death
of the Son, the firstborn.” Some think this psalm is about the death of Goliath; some the
death of David’s son by Bathsheba, others when Israel was delivered from Egypt,
through he death of the first born of Egypt.
However within this Psalm there is:
A.
To Praise God
Psalm 9:1 I will
praise thee, O LORD, with my whole
heart…
Praise is
surely the expression of a full and satisfied heart.
However, the
salvation given to us by Jesus Christ really demands continual praise.
Hebrews 13:15 By him therefore let us offer
the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
B To
Testify For God
Psalm 9:1 …I will
show forth all thy marvellous works.
His wonderful works
of grace, what God through His Son Jesus, what He has done for us, who have
experienced the power and riches His grace; Do
testify of Him.
B.
To Rejoice In God.
Psalm 9:2 I will
be glad and rejoice in thee: …
This gladness
is something deeper; more than that produced by the mere increase of corn
and wine, (money, wealth)
Psalm 4:7 Thou
hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
It is
the joy of the LORD; because it is joy
in God.
Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord
alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
II.
A POWERFUL REASON
A.
Because Of His Faithfulness.
Psalm 9:4 For
thou hast maintained…. my cause; …
It is His
purpose to the maintain the cause of the afflicted and the poor in spirit.
Psalm 140:12 I know
that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.
When our cause is the cause of God, it will be strongly maintained by
Him.
B.
Because
Of His Power.
Psalm 9:5 Thou hast rebuked the heathen, …
All the pride and possessions of the ungodly
Job 20:28 The increase of his
house shall depart, and his goods
shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
Unclean
thoughts and practices are rebuked in the presence of the LORD.
C.
Because Of His Mercy.
Psalm 9:10…thou,
LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
God, in all
the riches of His grace and His powers ever within the reach of the
wholehearted seeker.
Jeremiah 29:13 And ye
shall seek me, and find me, when ye
shall search for me with all your heart.
The great
Deliverer of the past; Is the same Deliverer for the present and the future.
Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: …
III.
AN INSPIRING HOPE.
A.
The Hope Of Endurance
Psalm 9:7 But
the LORD shall endure forever…
The blessings
of God's grace are as lasting as God Himself.
As long as He
endures, His redeemed ones; Will be
covered with the Blood of Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:23 And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.
B.
The Hope If Righteousness.
Psalm 9:8 And he
shall judge the world in righteousness…
Unrighteousness,
the fruit of the misery of sin, is ever with us, but:
Acts 17:31 Because
he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness
by that man whom he hath ordained…
Genesis 18:25 …
Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
C.
The Hope Of Salvation.
Psalm 9:9 The
LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed…
For those
oppressed with inward sin or outward trouble.
Psalm 46:1 God is
our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
They are
safely kept whose life is hid with
Christ in God.
